This no-knead yeast bread is simple to make, requires minimal effort, and delivers a perfectly golden crust with a soft, airy interior. With just a handful of pantry staples, you can create a warm, hearty loaf that’s perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
3 ½ cups all-purpose or bread flour
Prep Time: 2 hours
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Yield: 1 loaf
Instructions
Activate the Yeast – In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and apple cider vinegar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Mix the Dough – Stir in the salt and gradually add the flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Second Rise – Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into a rough ball. Place it back in the bowl, cover, and let it rise again for 30-45 minutes.
Preheat & Prepare – While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 450°F. Place a Dutch oven or stainless steel pot (with a lid) in the oven to heat up.
Bake the Bread – Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven. Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper to easily transfer it into the pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the lid and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the internal temperature reads at least 200°F. Using the parchment paper, lift the bread out of the pot for easy removal.
Cool & Enjoy – Transfer the bread to a wire rack and let it cool before slicing. Serve warm with butter, jam, or your favorite spread!
Tips & Variations
For a Chewier Crust: Lightly mist the inside of the Dutch oven with water before adding the dough.
Whole Wheat Option: Substitute 1 cup of all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for added fiber and flavor.
Add-Ins: Mix in herbs, garlic, or shredded cheese before the first rise for a flavorful twist.
